EMERGE Montgomery is a program of Leadership Montgomery in partnership with the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. EMERGE Montgomery is The organization for young professionals to connect with each other and the community. It is a built-in network of contacts for 22-40 year olds who currently live in the Montgomery area, or are considering Montgomery as a place to live.
Whether you are seeking to GROW as a professional, CONNECT with the community, INTERACT with your peers, or VOICE your opinion, we are sure to offer programs that meet your needs. The quality and variety of services offered to members attracts a diverse membership base made up of professionals from a myriad of industries.
Through focusing its energies on networking, volunteerism, public policy, personal and professional development, and economic development in the city, EMERGE Montgomery engages its members in activities that keep them connected to Montgomery.
Who are Young Professionals? Young Professionals are the next generation of leaders age 22 - 40 who represent diverse backgrounds and professions and are committed to personal and professional growth.
Mission:
The mission of EMERGE Montgomery is to network, develop professionally, create partnerships and influence decisions that make our city a desired location for young professionals to live, work, play and discover.
Goals:
The Goals of EMERGE Montgomery are to GROW professionals, CONNECT with the community, INTERACT with peers and VOICE opinions.
EMERGE Montgomery accomplishes each of these goals through the following venues:
GROW Professionals - EMERGE Montgomery is committed to helping its members grow personally and professionally.
Goals:
- To develop our next generation of leaders by providing leadership training through the Young Professionals Leadership Development curriculum.
- To provide monthly educational seminars to learn about our city and enhance the professional growth of our members. Topics will include presentations from key public officials, leadership development, goal setting, public speaking, estate and retirement planning and other topics of interest.
- To educate young professionals about community issues and empower them with the necessary skills and network to affect community action.
- To recruit and retain young talent within our area by partnering with local resources and developing mentoring programs and job opportunities for our best and brightest.
CONNECT with the Community - EMERGE Montgomery will connect with the community by providing resources to assist in community events, programs and city planning efforts for future growth.
Goals:
- To support the leadership development class projects and participate in class events as needed.
- To provide manpower for service projects and volunteer needs.
- To participate in city planning and provide opinions to affect action.
INTERACT with Peers - EMERGE Montgomery is a built-in network for young professionals living and working in the River Region. Members interact through social and professional networking events.
Goals:
- To create a diversified base of monthly social and professional activities and encourage networking.
- To influence decision makers on acts/entertainment that is of interest to young professionals.
- To participate in the SMART Growth plan for the re-development of downtown Montgomery.
VOICE Opinions - EMERGE Montgomery will educate its members on legislative and public policy issues affecting the quality of life of young professionals.
Goals:
- To provide educational programs on key political, legislative and city issues.
- To gain access to public officials and a platform to voice our opinions and effect change.
- To provide educational opportunities and a network for members with political aspirations to learn about the process and responsibility of running for public office.
